Terms and Conditions:
ClimateResponse® Residential and Small Business Participants
(Ford California Power Response Customers)
EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 4, 2024
Ford’s California Power Response has partnered with Olivine’s ClimateResponse® program. Participants in Ford’s California Power Response will be provided the opportunity to earn incentives for the capacity of the entire utility service account associated with their Ford vehicle through enrollment in ClimateResponse®. In order to do so, they must accept the following terms and conditions:
- ELIGIBILITY: California residential or small business utility customers who are (1) enrolled in Ford California Power Response and (2) not enrolled in other utility or third-party Demand Response (DR) programs are eligible to participate in ClimateResponse®. Residential and Small Business utility customers are defined as utility account holders for buildings where the maximum monthly electric loads are less than 20 kW. Ford California Power Response Customers enrolled in any non-Olivine programs must disenroll prior to enrolling in ClimateResponse®. Limit one enrollment per service account.
- TECHNOLOGY: ClimateResponse® does not require any specific technology for participation. Participants are able to participate behaviorally by responding to a ClimateResponse® Event and taking actions to reduce energy use during ClimateResponse® Events. Customers enrolled in ClimateResponse® and Ford California Power Response simultaneously may have their vehicles controlled by Ford.
- SMART METER: Consistent with California regulations, enrollment in ClimateResponse® will be for the utility service account which provides for customers enrolled to earn incentives based on the load reduction associated with that meter and not just the reductions associated with their vehicle. The service account being enrolled in ClimateResponse® must be serviced by a utility-approved smart meter that monitors energy usage at 15-minute intervals. (Note: most households in California have such smart meters)
- COMMITMENT: Participation is voluntary. During a ClimateResponse® Event the participant will be asked to reduce their energy usage as much as possible, but will not be penalized if they are unable to do so. As a ClimateResponse® Partner, Ford will manage any reductions associated with the vehicle.
- ENROLLMENT: Enrollment in these programs means that you have chosen Olivine to be your demand response provider and that you may not enroll in other demand response programs. Enrollment requires participants to agree to these terms and conditions, as well as the ClimateResponse® Participation Agreement. Enrollment in ClimateResponse® is not complete until confirmed by Olivine.
- EVENTS: Participating customers enrolled in both Ford California Power Response and ClimateResponse® will receive event notifications prior to an event from Ford and may receive additional communications if appropriate from ClimateResponse® .
- EVENT TRIGGERS: ClimateResponse® Events will be triggered at the discretion of Olivine for one or more of the following reasons:
- CAISO Energy Emergency Alerts and related dispatch requests between May 1st and October 31st
- High local greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
- High wholesale energy prices
- Extreme weather
- Poor local air quality
- Event testing
- EVENT INFORMATION:
- ClimateResponse® Events are called for a maximum of 3 hours.
- The minimum number of ClimateResponse® Events per season is 30 hours
- Maximum of 1 ClimateResponse® Event per day
- PARTICIPATION INCENTIVES: For joint enrollees in ClimateResponse® and Ford California Power Response a Participant will be paid $1/kWh reduction achieved against baseline usage during noticed ClimateResponse® Events (see note), provided that Participant (1) participates in and pauses charging for 3 events during the season (May-October), and (2) plugs in and charges vehicle at the service account location 3x per week (as determined by Ford). Incentives will be paid in the first or second quarter for participation in the prior season.
- NOTE: The reduction in consumption during a ClimateResponse® Event is measured relative to how much energy the customer typically used on other days preceding the event day during hours similar to the event hours as calculated from the utility service account meter. For a detailed explanation, please contact ask@climateresponse.com.
- INSTALLATION COSTS: If the participant is installing equipment to participate in the program, the participant is solely responsible for the cost of purchasing and installing the equipment. Olivine will not pay for installation costs or for any upgrades to the participant’s electrical system required for installation of a battery energy storage system. The participant is responsible for hiring a qualified professional to estimate the cost of installation, obtain any necessary permits and install the equipment, and obtain any federal, state, or local incentives.
- PARTICIPATION COSTS: Enrollment and participation in ClimateResponse® is free of charge.
- PROGRAM WITHDRAWAL: Customers may withdraw from ClimateResponse® at any time without penalty by emailing ask@climateresponse.com. Withdrawal from ClimateResponse® will be communicated to Ford and may result in withdrawal from Ford’s California Power Response.
- UPDATE OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS: These Terms and Conditions may be modified or updated by Olivine ClimateResponse®at any time upon notice to participants, which may be via email, app, or otherwise. The participant’s continued enrollment in ClimateResponse® signals the participant’s agreement to any modified or updated Terms and Conditions.
