Olivine and Carbon Solutions Group Partner to Expand Flexible EV Charging

Berkeley, CA — Olivine, Inc., a leader in distributed energy resources, demand response, and load flexibility capabilities, has partnered with Carbon Solutions Group (CSG), a major owner and operator of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, to integrate CSG’s growing portfolio of charging stations into Olivine’s ClimateResponse® Virtual Power Plant (VPP). The collaboration will unlock thousands of kilowatts of flexible capacity across California and other regions, helping communities, businesses, and drivers actively participate in the clean energy transition.

Through Olivine’s ClimateResponse® VPP, CSG’s network will participate in programs such as the California Demand Side Grid Support (DSGS) Program and California ISO (CAISO) wholesale markets. This will allow EV chargers to provide load reduction during periods of peak demand. This coordination transforms EV charging into a distributed energy asset that creates value for drivers and the energy system at large.

CSG has been developing and operating EV charging infrastructure since 2016. Its portfolio includes a mix of Level 2 and DC Fast chargers, along with a proprietary network launched in recent years. With more than 250 active chargers and 1,000 additional stations in development, CSG expects to grow from roughly 4 MW of eligible flexible capacity today to more than 13 MW by early next year. The majority of its portfolio is in California, with additional deployments in the Pacific Northwest and Minnesota.

By combining Olivine’s market leadership in demand flexibility with CSG’s charging infrastructure and services, the partnership demonstrates the vital role distributed resources such as EV chargers can have in strengthening the grid, supporting communities, and accelerating decarbonization.
